last night at low tide we watched this seagull catch and break open the crab, some times they drop them from the air to crack open the shell
the steps are just about a ladder at low tide
the harbour master gave us some steamed Periwinkles for a treat … first time eating these … good too
also he collected dulse and told us how to dry it in the sun
last night some fishing boats went out … here is the full moon that is causing all the extreme high and low tides
we were up around 6:30 and took a walk along the docks at all the boats heeled over and stuck in the mud
a local boater said that this area never dries out ….. I hope there is no emergency because the fire department zodiac is stuck
Modaki was in deeper water, but we measured the depth and we are in 3 feet of water and draw 5 ft., so in the mud maybe 2 feet
even the power boats are grounded
another picture of the fuel dock …. we did empty our 2 jugs of diesel into Modaki's tank and just had the jugs filled
no one is going any where … the tide last night was 30 ft
this Herring Gull caught an eel and then ….
the Black Back Gull stole it from him
even the boats on mooring balls were aground
it is hard to see …. but this is a school of squid, or pod of squid …
this eel better get back in his hole before the gulls see him
….. to be continued
