Joe figuring out where we are with his sexton …
this is how to read a book … out in the dinghy
March 8 - 9, 2015
South of Tavern Cay and John Cash Point
March 8, we spent all day on the boat as the wind blew it self silly. It was a good day for projects. One of mine was clean and re arrange the spice drawer, Joe calls it my Herb Garden. Joe filled and smoothed out the unwanted holes in his 4 conch, he has made into conch horns. It was too windy and cool to even go for a swim off the boat.
Monday, we got up early and listened to the Cruisers Net, on channel 68 VHF. We got the weather and info on possible passages thru the ocean cuts in Abaco. Also it is not a good day to cross the Gulf Stream, between Florida and Bahamas, either way.
By 8:45am, the main sail is up and we haul anchor and head north. This time we have to skirt around Lubbers Bank, shallows. There is no straight line to where you want to go .. first head West for 2 miles, then North West 2 miles, then East 1 mile, then North for 1 mile, keep Sugar Loaf Cay and Matt Lowes Cay to Port, then Head west .
We anchored in the lee of Sugar Loaf Cay and snorkelled for a bit and then walked the beach of a Private Island.
The wind is to be South East tonight, but we think it is more East, so we are rocking a bit at anchor … tomorrow we head to Marsh Harbour and Mango Marina for the night to shower, laundry, get water, provision, get rid of garbage … then off for the another week of exploring …
