we met two other sailboats going in the opposite direction, with no sails up ... we were heading into the south west wind and it felt like a good wind was blowing, but only up wind ...
passing another fishing village before Country Harbour, there was an anchorage right across, but we decided to go the the recommended wharf, further up the river.
a large light house perched on barren rocks ..
there was a lot of out buildings falling down in this old gold mining town
this is the wharf, we had recommended to us, we had hoped to spend the night tied up there, but it must of been damaged by ice last winter, part of it was falling down, lots of boards missing and most definitely not an easy place for leisure craft to dock, even will our fender board. We circled a few times to see if it was at all possible, but no.
we then went up to an anchorage, about one mile away and with the SW wind that was to build, it would not be suitable (the wind died completely later)
So we did what we did on Lake Superior, travelled up river more and found a suitable anchorage in
the lee of the land, in 20 ft of water, with 150 of chain and some rode.
our days travel 9 hours, 40.3 km in 5 ft rolls
Joe getting ready to empty a 20 litre diesel jug into our tank
we have a 3 filter system, and we found lots of dirt on the screen, we are now looking for a place
to clean our filter system
a nice sun set ... early to bed again, 5am rise and shine
Good night !!!!
