off the dock at 8am, and were surprised that the seas were a bit turbulent, the William P. Lane Jr. Memorial Bridges, in the distance
they are also known as the Bay Bridges
and measure 4.3 miles long and 186 ft clearance
note the workmen at the top
another view of the bridges
some tour boats
there were 4 Navy boats circling the area in side the harbour
in front of the Naval Academy
some places to explore once we are settled
the lift bridge only opens on the half hour and hour, we circled in front for about 10 minutes, but we were not aware that you have to radio the bridge to get them to open … Jacobs Ladder appeared just in time to inform us this ..
some lovely homes with their boats parked out in front
another
day's passage 19 nm … 3 1/2 hours
we found a spot to anchor, you have to be 75ft away from docks, mooring balls, and other boats, in all wind directions
barges winding their way thru the moored and anchored boats, and the driver always talking on a phone
this is our home for a few weeks
we woke the next morning to a dinghy full of duck poop …
one and half hours later we finally had it all cleaned, and we headed off to meet up with our friends Catherine and Gavin, from JUMP …. we went to Bacon Marines by bus and got a few goodies, and had a Japanese lunch too
fellow Canadians on SV Jacobs Ladder, Andy and Judy, they have travelled from Halifax this year, leaving there August 1, I believe
