what I forgot to mention yesterday, was that I called into Customs to report our location, and was told that we only have to call this one time while in Maryland, and please enjoy your stay with us …. What the heck … only call once, she said it will save you time and a phone call …
another thing we heard on Channel 16 was …. a fishing vessel was questioning a request made to him to move … the worship responded " we are firing missiles in your direction and don't want to harm your vessel ….. fishing boat … okay I understand now, moving right away
off the anchor again at 9am and motored and wove our way thru, crab pots
19 nm … 3 1/2 miles
we arrived at Rock Hall, Gratitude Marina at 4pm to get diesel, and a pump out … we asked if we could have showers, and was given the code for entry .. then asked about laundry and one thing led to another, the Harbour Master said, why not just stay on the dock over night … and we did .. free of charge
we met this guy in this boat and he is just finishing up a rowing, from Annapolis City, out the Chesepeake Bay, to Virginia State, up and into the Delaware Bay, thru the C and D Canal, and back to Annapolis City … we did not get his name, but his journey sure was interesting .. he said the newspaper was going to do a interview on him when he arrived back home. He pops up this tent on the boat to sleep.
this marina is the haven for Island Packets … very impressive
there is no docks here, only the pillars to tie up to, these power boats are hoisted out of the water, and after what we found on our dinghy I know why
we were so grateful for this free dock for the night … we gave 10 dollars for laundry and did 3 loads, had showers, filled all our water jugs, defrosted the fridge, fuelled up, had a pump out, exchanged reading books … so much appreciated
