we enjoyed our time out at the Coast Guard station, but decided to head back to Atlantic Highlands, to do another grocery run and see if we can have showers at the Yacht Club
another freighter coming in around the hook, heading to New York City
some last minute scrubbing the cockpit, to get the salt off
I rearranged our stores, and labeled the tops of them, for quick reference, and made a list of what we will need in the next few weeks
back at Atlantic Highlands we find this interesting wooden piece
an experimental Submarine, all made out of wood
this is the yacht club that we did manage to have a shower, during Hurricane Sandy the water was half way up the lower windows, and blew them out. All the docks were destroyed, boats ended up on streets and on top of each other. We were told that a complete sandbar, just a mile away vanished.
Friday was the Farmer's Market, there was lots of fresh veggies, yellow corn on the cob was 50 cents each. We bought a small quantity of beans, as I'm still having a problem keeping veggies.
loved the name on this boat
back to the boat, and the water line had to be cleaned, of its 2-3 inches of green hair.
When we haul the boat, next year, we are going to raise the water line about 6 inches.
the Captain scrubbing away
then we are off to the shore, at low tide to clean the dinghy bottom
it is amazing what warm water does to ones boat
all sorts of little critters growing underneath, if left on they will continue to grow
all clean so now back to the boat, motor out again to the Coast Guard Station, deflate the dinghy, get food ready for the next day…… this will save us 1/2 hour of time in the morning …. finally leaving Sandy Hook
