since we had a rough night at anchor and the wind was howling, we decided to spend another day and go to shore … this was the first beach we walked that was full of shells
not too sure what this sea creature is, but it was still alive and was waiting for the tide to come in, so it could swim away … about 1 ft across
conch shell, are we getting close to the Bahamas ??
some beautiful colours and different shapes, we have a shell book and I will be looking these up soon
Orient Yacht Club, were we filled our water jugs and docked the dinghy
this small village is full of 1700 Historic Homes
the house above
lawns are beautifully manicured, and flower beds full of fall flowers
we looked at some Real Estate advertisements, and a house with a view of the water is 1 3/4 million dollars, so how much is one on the water, or one like this one ???
we understand with painted cedar shake homes, you scrape and paint one side of the house a year, just to keep up with the upkeep … I think I would keep mine unpainted
lots of beautiful old trees … this village is about a 2 hour drive from New York City, one guy we talked to said he has a flat in N.Y. for the winter months and lives here in the summer
this was a tree we came across … anyone know what it is ???
another beautiful home
we stopped at the General Store for coffee and baked goods, there was a Post Office next door, but that is it for the village
the old fire hall, converted into a home
we headed back to the boat, but it was rolling too much to change the fuel pump, I made some curry chicken and had to hold the pot on the stove most of the time ….
Joe called his mom and we also got a phone call from your friends Jody and Val ..
