well I guess we have to do this dirty job some time … we had to replace the leaky fuel pump, it was replaced one day before we left on this adventure, 3 years ago, and at that time Jamie Nicol and Paul Beattie helped Joe replace it, and it took them about 4 hours …. the seas were calm so we started at about 9 am and finished at 1 pm
we had everything labeled, so each nut was put back in the right place
the problem with replacing it, is that you can't see what you are doing, Joe is in behind the motor and I'm in front, and have about a 3 inch space to put hands, and tighten bolts, and get washers all lined up (see picture, below the red cable, that's it)
we then took a dinghy ride to the west arm to find the fuel dock, which we have to come to tomorrow, they are taking out all the docks, and building a large commercial marina
back to Modaki, after walking to another grocery store for a few supplies, our friends are arriving
another view of New York City, at night
the little tykes finishing up their sailing lesson for the day and heading back to the marina
we had to now get out all the charts for N.Y. and the Chesapeake Bay
