after our friends left, we went back to our old anchorage spot and settled in for a quiet night (NOT)
the little tykes were out again in the calm sailing when a tug boat horn sounded, the little kids hurried out of the way
close to us is a hugh mooring ball, which we know now is where a barge is left, so the tug can go and get more barges
here he comes again with two more barges
Captain takes the other 2 up behind the moored one, drops them and rushes
in reverse to the last barge, at this time we heard them saying watch out for that sailboat
coming back to push them all together
this was great watching how the Captain was manoeuvring
at about this time we started to get a bit worried that they might drift into us
not to worry he had them all attached and headed out to sea … each barge was about 100 ft long
leaving the harbour … once out in the Long Island Sound … the tugboat extended a line about 1,000 ft long to the first barge ..
little did we know that this night was the worst for rocking and rolling … the wind was from the north, and Modaki was pointed in that direction, but the seas came in thru the opening and was hitting us from the side … could not sleep from 3am on ...
