July 4 - 7, 2013 …. leaving Owen Sound, Ontario - Gold River Marina, Nova Scotia

the car is all packed, I don't think we could of got another thing wedged in any where, and the house is ready for my daughter Lily and Jesse and Carter to move in for the 9 months that we will be away

our first days stop after 8 hours of driving is Salsberry de Valley Field, the first Quebec town we sailed into 2 years ago

our hotel was looking right down on the town docks that we stayed at, this town has a lot of charm and very friendly people

during the summer there is always something going on, we attend a free concert on the water front, 2 years ago it was a free laser show

this band Richard Petit & les Vicking, was great, they were doing the covers of Rock bands, both old and new … their guests were from the "Voice" a TV show

we had breakfast with Elaine and Andre, we met two years ago … they sailed last year on Gypsie Angel, down to Florida and will return this fall to cross to the Bahamas … we are hoping to meet them there this winter

back on the road again, this is Grand Falls New Brunswick, we understand that in the summer there is only a trickle of water over the falls … this is a very beautiful town, it was pouring rain when we passed thru .. we were heading into the tropical storm Arthur

after 10 hours of driving we arrived at the hotel, we had booked earlier, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, to find it in compete darkness … the whole area was without hydro.  We had to use our flashlights to get to our room, by this time we were so tired, all we did was sleep.  We understand that even now 4 days later some areas still don't have hydro.  We also forgot to change our clocks, so we arrived at 10:30 pm

then off to see our good friends, Dave, Marylou, and Nikki, Bath.  This is their new boat a Cape Islander, named "Ocean One".  They live near Moncton, N.B., but keep their boat at Pointe du Chene Yacht Club  Two years ago we left our sailboat here for the winter.

off again to see Dave and Jessica

we met them last year in Souris, P.E.I., waiting for a weather window to cross to
Iles de la Madeleine … and we did some serious sea glass hunting together too

we made a detour to Amherst, Nova Scotia to visit a rug hooking studio

Deanne designs some wonderful rugs and wall hangings

love her whimsical designs

at 2:30 pm  July 7, 2013 we arrived at Gold River Marina to our home

two days earlier tropical storm Arthur hit the area with very high winds, we had to take the tarp off anyway … we found everything else in good condition.  There was some mould on the deck, and a bit inside, but nothing too drastic … our main plan for this day was to get bedding out of storage and washed, so we could have some place to sleep … to be continued  !!!!!
