July 8 - 10, 2013 …. Gold River Marina, Nova Scotia

This is in the picnic area at the Marina, and the chair is there, for the BBQ cooker-person, too funny not to take this picture … the first night we did take out, then I went to Chester and got a few provisions for a couple of meals .. tomorrow Friday is the Farmers Market and the fish/seafood guy is there … scallops here we come …

we have been in touch with our friends, John and Moira Coull, (we met two years ago on the St. Lawrence River, and will hopefully meet us again later this year, we are both heading in the same direction) they were in Chester, Nova Scotia, only 10 minutes from our Marina … we visited them for lunch and hear the story of how there C&C Custom 42 weathered Tropical Storm Arthur, at anchor in Deep Cove, (they and we now know that are is 2 Deep Coves in the area), one is a hurricane hole and the one that they were in is Not !!!

the weather here has been foggy in the morning and steaming hot for the rest of the day, and cool at night … Joe got the boat hull washed and one coat or wax on, while I unpacked 1/4 of the locker and packed it on the boat …… before it got too hot to even move

today we started really early, the yard crew starts at 7am … we got another coat of wax on
then had to stop because of the heat …. did I mention we are in a gravel pit area, pointing west .. therefore no wind   .. tomorrow we have to do the 3rd coat  … note the fog in the back ground

we have to make a piece of aluminum to hold our new wind generator on the boat, the marina manager told us about a scrap yard only a few minutes away by car, so we visited them and found a piece that would work

Joe made a template and the guy blow torched (fabricated) the piece for us, tomorrow Joe climbs behind the diesel tank to install it …  we are keeping your fingers crossed that it works

Joe found a shady spot and grind off the rust on our prop

Joe was helping dock a 101 year old wooden sailboat, it will be racing in the Classic Race in Chester Basin, mid August
… to be continued  ….
