August 4, 2014 --- Pubnico Harbour to Yarmouth Harbour

what a great wake up call … this fishing boat came in in the middle of the night and Modaki crew did not hear for feel her coming in … the fishermen , left Friday and arrived Monday morning with 70,000 lbs of haddock  ….  we watched her bow rise from 10 feet to 8 feet .. in 4 hours of unloading
we where told that the fishing grounds are 12 hours of motor  off shore and they fish and when the boat is full of  catch they return to harbour

haddock

some how we mentioned that we love haddock .. and we do

4 large fish is filleted for us  …  thank you !!!

3 seamen are on the boat out at sea and when they come back to shore it takes 7 to unload the 70,000 lbs ..

Modaki, is a midget against these beautiful fishing vessels  … we had to back up and make a circle to head out the harbour …..   if I was ever to be stranded in fog or hurricane … Pubnico Harbour I would want to stay … Joe and I had so many people come down and see us it was embarrassing to actually leave this friendly place ……  we will be back …

low tide in Pubnico

these are interesting … finally some one told us what they are … these are the lobster cars ?? … where they hold the fresh lobster once they are caught, in water that is where they are caught, salt water  and cold 5 degrees .. lobster fishing here is from last Monday in November   -- first of May … the worst weather in Canada to fish in … a hard job

leaving Pubnico, with the 17 windmills to starboard

and into 6 hours of fog

radar says something is coming out the harbour …  in dense fog it is heart stopping .. but they do suddenly appear .. a fishing boat

a light house in the centre of the river

some time passes and we see what is around us … a fishing boat, herring boat

a 6 hour motor  complete fog again, thank you radar and auto helm … there was a lot of eddies and turbulence in these waters … and of course our friend Jody Baurerlein phone calls right in the middle of  this $%$*$#@ ….  .   ever since we left Owen Sound Jody has always phoned us in a mini crisis … thanks buddy … you keep us on in line  ..a true friend for sure   ...

fog has lifted and boats heading out in the fog to fish

the harbour here is a bit not nice looking, fish scales and what ever in the harbour .. we did not use our bay/ocean tap here

the tide is 14 feet here and there is a ramp like walk and a step walk for low tides … stay tines for Digby steps …

to to continued …   p.s. there is spelling mistakes and grammar mistakes .. oh well !!!
