August 31, 2013 -- Indian Point Mooring Ball

from Mahone Bay to Indian Point --- 2.1 km ... we motored at 3 knots to charge the batteries, it took one hour ...  I love going slow

the weather was foggy and misty in the morning, but then cleared up to a beautiful afternoon ... this is a Cat Boat that the owners and Don Barr later today won the sail race, out of Martin River

Joe and I took a dinghy ride around the bay to see how life is lived out here

lots of beautiful boats, and cedar shake buildings down by the water ...

this and the other boats raced in the Martin River race, today

this was a fantastic building ...

the red building is the last boat building boat house in Indian Point

I am sure there is a history behind this building

the Cat Boat, motoring to the beginning of the race ... our friend Don Barr on board

the wind was light at this time and we both remarked that it might be a slow race

the skipper and I continued on our island dinghy ride to explore and look for sea glass .. what we found was this salt water fungi growing on rocks, low tide now

this was so neat, it grew at the point of a triangle piece of rock, when the 6 ft tide rises, the rocks stay at the bottom and the fungi rises up ...

I disturbed a crab ...

the skipper, exploring ...this island is all public  ... just leave your foot prints !!!!!

all different colours of the fungi

we motored over to another island, with Modaki in the back ground,  we found some sea glass, but it is not very well worn .. no major storms in these protected waters ...

Modaki at mooring ... with Eli Blue (Joanne and Gene)

to our delight we sat in the cock pit and watched the Martin River race, there was 32 boats in total, what a sight, lots of classic boats, wooden boats, ...

lots of these boats are the Cat Boats, and the one Don Barr (the retired captain of the Blue Nose II), came in first in the small sail division

okay race over and the boat chores continue ... the skipper is cleaning the stern, the diesel exhaust leaves a black mess ...

our sea glass collection ... some nice blue and the bottom of a 2 inch bottle with C.C. LTD on it ... some of the other white pieces have letters too .. this winter we will research them
