September 1 - 2, 2013 rainy day Indian Point and heading to Gold River and prep for haul out !!!

Sunday morning we woke to a foggy, damp day, not good for varnishing, laundry or anything ... the phone rang ... Trisha Barr invited Joe and I to go to town, in 20 minutes ... what a scramble  we did ... close windows, get our walking shoes on, ( and hope we don't have a soaker by the time we get to shore), grab money and a back pack, life jackets on, get motor started in dinghy, and off we went  ... just made it in time .. we had coffee at Jo-Ann Deli with Trisha and sister Paulene, and then  headed off to the town dock to see Don Barr and the skipper of the Cat boat arrive to haul her out, after their win, the day before ...  then the rains started again ... dinghy ride back to boat, a little wet by the time we arrived ... hey it is not raining salt water .... oh ya this is our heat pail ... works on the same alcohol as our cooking stove ... with all the damp rainy weather, it sure helps dry the boat out

the winds were light and we wanted to wash the mail sail ... so we hoisted it up and, after about 30 minutes we felt it was washed with fresh rain water ...

the winds were so light we just let it rocked back and forth to dry

I tried my luck again at high tide to catch the mackerel ... they nibbled, but nothing

we are right next to the ex-mussel farm ... a slimy fungi attacked the mussels a few years back and now the farm is not operational

we are on the move Sept. 2, this is the church that has been providing music at 2pm and 7 pm each day, we can hear it from our mooring ball .. it was really nice to hear echoing across the water

Indian Point to Gold River --- 7.1 km in the rain and mist

Joe and I arrived  at Gold River Marina in a rain down pour ... we made arrangements to come in Tuesday, but the weather is so bad, we decided to see if the dock was open that we reserved ... and it was ... no one is working in the marina on the long weekend ... we circled in the area and then went back out of the river to put the fenders on and dock lines and approached again ....  my main concern was to not slip on the wet wooden dock, when I stepped off and down to the floating dock ... I made it safely !!!!  ...... this is the travel lift that will haul us by the end of the week  ...

we got right to business and furled out the fore sail, to get it washed in the rain, and had to help it out with a garden hose ...  it is to rain all day tomorrow, so that might cause us some problems with moving our belongings to the storage unit .. we will see

the weather here has made the marina very quiet, ... we flushed the outboard with fresh water and fogged it too ...

some where here Modaki will be parked for the winter, with her mast up (first for us and her too)

or indoor storage at $300. a month  ... maybe not !!!

as I write this it is pouring rain, foggy and thank goodness we are at our final destination for this year ...
Modaki will be hauled here, we have a few days of taking sails off,  cleaning, removing cushions, electronics, winterizing everything  etc. ... OMG
