August 7, 2013 ARMDALE Y.C. fuel and washing salt off MODAKI

We left Owl Head Harbour, at 6 am to beat the weather, sun just coming up on the entrance to the harbour ... (harbour in the Maritimes means anchoring ..... harbour in our area means docks)

the seas were good to us, lots of rolling swells, we watched this fishing boat at a distance, it kept getting closer and closer and closer, on a collision course, he is travelling faster than us ... at the time I am ready to jump over board to avoid a beam collision, the fishing boat passes to the stern of us and every one waves, big smiley waves .....

maybe next time throw us a fish or two !!

we are entering the North-West Arm of Halifax Harbour, so many boats at mooring balls, as seen in the picture , we have never seen this before , we are travelling in 5 miles , a small private marina, then another and at the end Armdale Y.C.

it was a beautiful day, and there is many sailing schools here, first we hit the big kids on Skiffs, trying to see who could cross in front of us the closest, too many of them tried and succeeded and I am glad that the Skipper was on the helm, we went from 3 knots to 2  knots and slowed even further, there was a few swings happening with us, but the big kids kept on smiling ..  then the little kids are next ... the little ones in the row boat, I said to Joe 4 -5 year olds ... oh my  , we felt like a freighter beside the  baby's in a row-boat  ... they are that young!!

Fidelis, we saw this on AIS miles out on the Ocean, it turns out to be a charter boat, and it is at anchor in the North West Arm of Halifax ... it is 175 ft long draft 12 ft.

there is a white dot just below the aft mast, that is a man cleaning the boat ... any way we are told that
Tom Selleck, uses it here in Halifax to do his new Cop Show, because some of it is shot here .. can any one clarify this for us ???

some beautiful houses entering the Arm

our 8 hour trip 40 km

part of Armdale Y.C. is the 1812 jail that held prisoners of war

Joe and I walked miles to get to he grocery store and Binnacal Store, and took the bus back, but no one told us the bus only runs  every hour ..  our 45 min wait in the heat was  ....

race night at the Y.C. they did a triangle course that lasted 1/2 hour, ... talk to us about this, ??

while the race is on the 200 kayak's set off on a water hike !! life is interesting on the east coast of Canada !!
