September 11, 2014 Mystic, Connecticut part one … HAPPY BIRTHDAY little sister Louise Pepe

we left Judith Harbour at 6:15am to make the 5 hours to Mystic, to get the tide with us leaving here and get slack in the crazy river we have to go up …  fishermen heading out for the days work, pulling 3 boats

oh heck here we are in this narrow, winding, shallow river and the railway bridge is not opening for us,
finally it does …swing bridge

on to the next bridge it only opens at 40 minutes after the hour ….  Joe planned this tide and bridge opening on the mark … of course the driver (me) had something to do with it also

we left at 6:15 and had a 3 knot boost from the tide and wind was good, main sail and foresail had a reef in … being cautious    … the ocean is not nice some times … we had 6 ft swells and the 10th swell was 8 - 10 ft

no pictures coming into this 6 mile long river, that is narrow and winding,  pictures to follow
this was the first time docking this way … Joe landed it right on the mark, with winds and currant pushing us sideways ...
