September 19, 2014 … Manhasset Bay, Long Island Sound

we left as soon as we could get organized and headed out into the 6 ft following seas, surfing most of the time, it was warm and sunny

we just had a 3 hour .. 16 nm trip
this bay has free mooring balls for transit cruisers, so we quickly picked up one, and to our surprise the pan under the engine was full of diesel fuel …the fuel filter was leaking … we cleaned up all the diesel and then went back to find out where the leak was coming from, after another 2 hours we had every nut and bolt tightened and the motor run again, with no leaks

to our surprise we found a large nut in the fuel pan,  was it an old forgot one or a new lost one, so we went searching  … from the engine mount
so all things are good again

we headed off to shore to get rid of the dirty diesel and garbage, and then bought a few groceries and went to West Marine … back on the boat and had Bluefish for supper, and got prepped for our passage thru New York the next day
