September 14, 2014 … Morris Cove, New Haven, Connecticut

we headed out of Orient, Long Island Sound, N.Y. after another lumpy night at anchor, off hook at 7AM so we hit the Plum Island Gut with the last of the incoming tide … there was 3 ferries coming and going thru this gut, one  right after the other, so we had to plan the escape following one of them

this lighthouse's nick name is " The Coffee Grinder", because it looks like one I guess … we are surprised at all the shoals and shallow water in this area, we are passing thru 20 ft of water in this gut

with the north wind, we had to dress up just to keep warm, soon the layers came off

we must be getting closer to New York City, planes every where

coming into New Haven, after crossing Long Island Sound waters

we had a 6 hour day 35 km … our odometer has stopped working …

anchor was down at 2:30 … and we where too pooped to put the dinghy motor on and head to shore
hopefully tonight we get some sleep
