October 13 and 14, 2014

we found out that Scrubbing Bubbles, bathroom cleaner, works great on the dinghy

Joe giving the water line another wash, after sitting for 2 weeks in one place we were starting to grow a few more hairs, and barnacles

we met our friends, Carmen and Randy from Walkabout at one of the oldest taverns in Annapolis, for a few drinks …

then off to The Boatyard for supper … this place sure is happening, all nautical theme, the food was great and full of sailors

Joe's getting to love the crab cakes, we all had a bit of seafood this time around
then back to the boat to get ready for an early start

the early start ended to be 9am, we forgot that the bridge is not open every half hour, during rush hour.
I took Modaki through this time, the opening looks so small until you get close up.
We stopped to say our good byes to Jacob's Ladder, and would meet up again soon.
The sailboat show part was all taken apart, and all the boats removed, getting ready to set up for the Power Boat show

the Navy guys were all out patrolling the harbour

about 7 sailboats were leaving Annapolis the same time as us, all heading south.
We did not expect the lumpy seas, it was a bit to get use to with being at anchor for 2 weeks, all those nicely washed decks, full of salt again

A National Historic Landmark, one of the most recognized light houses on the Chesepeake,
"Thomas Point ", built in 1875, is the only screwpile light on the bay, still in its original location, at the mouth of the South River.
The 1 1/2 story wooden and cast iron hexagonal cottage is white with red roofing, a black lantern, stands 43 ft above the water.  It flashes white, 250 mm solar-powered lens, which replaced it previous 4th order Fresnel lens, has a 11 mile range.
There are boat tours to see this beauty .

we had a short day only 3 1/2 hours on the water, we had made arrangements to go to a boat yard to do repairs .. Hertges, well be got anchored out in front, then called to say we were here.  We had the wrong Hertges, the boat yacht yard is up a creek, about one mile away … off we went again

we knew we found the right place when our friends boat Walkabout, was being hand lined into the travel lift, what we didn't know at that time was, when they returned just before our arrival, when entering the creek, their prop fell off and the boat had to be towed to the dock

what a sight, a tug boat pulling a barge with back hoe and driver still in the drivers seat
to be continued  ...
