October 15 - 18, Hertges Yacht Yard … electrical work

here we are at the end of the dock, getting ready to start to work, because we were buying all our wire, batteries etc from the yard our dock was free

we just managed to walk to the office and got a ride back with our new golf cart batteries
before it poured buckets and buckets of fresh water for our tanks

what work was done, was  reduced from 3 to 2 battery banks, took out isolator, moved house bank and installed 2 more golf cart batteries, moved start battery, prepared for installation of solar and it took 4 days and $1,000 dollars

we were glad all our work was in the boat today

constantly watched with amazement the traffic passing by

the yard manager said he had some old dodger and bimini frames that they were just throwing out, and we could help our selves to them … I dismantled all parts and cut with a hack saw, the pieces that we think we will need, for the solar panels, that DID NOT arrive, and we have now cancelled the order and will work on this project when we get to Florida … now just waiting to see if they actually credit our Visa

4 days and we are just about there

lots of 1/0 wire to buy

just about there

crimping the last of the 1/0 wire, with a hammer and drill bit
note my stainless pieces behind Joe

laundry day, too

we needed a break from the work and grabbed the yacht yard bikes and went exploring, visited a few antique shops, this one was actually a Jailhouse, still has a cell in the basement

interestly, the old Quaker graves  are not marked because they do not believe in doing so, placing the emphases instead upon good works when alive

Galesville was founded in 1652, by Virginia Puritans John Brown and John Clark, who converted to Quakerism, and therefore this place is considered the birthplace of Quakerism in Maryland. The Quakers ended up leaving Galesville because sizeable group of land owners opposed slavery.

other people have been buried here after the Quakers left, we found some  stones in the 1800

The creek we were up was called Tenthouse Creek, so named due to the large gatherings of Quakers here along the creek.  Amongst them William Penn of Pennsylvania.

Walkabout once again came to our assistance, Carmen and I did groceries and went to 2 different  West Marine stores, to finally get everything we needed

we had a great supper together at Thursday's Steak and Crabhouse Bar, located on the old steamboat pier ….. oysters , seared tuna, crab cakes

Joe helped Randy with a few things too, before they fly off to Peru, for a month
