November 6, 2014 …. Sampit River near Georgetown, S. Carolina

we are up and leaving at the first bit of light, our first swing bridge of the day,
today we did 11 fixed bridges and 3 swing/lift bridges, and they all have different opening schedules, it is sometimes frustrating

today we had to go thru the "Rock Pile" mile 347 - 355, you have to send a security, to a see if any tugs and barges are passing thru. Boats do go around on the rock ledges, you have to stay in the centre. We passed thru at high tide, so the ledges were not visible , not always a good idea

a flying saucer that had landed

there was an amusement park in this area with ariel cars over the ICW

not too sure if they are repainting them or what
it was a very colourful area

this area was full of Spanish style homes, and the bridge was decorated the same way

this is the front of the house

and the back of the same house, it would of been great to take a tour … there is new shoreline development in this area, with 120 new golf sources with single family homes and condominium development .. the scenic view of the ICW soon will disappear

we are getting into the area of the Spanish Moss hanging on the trees

follow the bouys, not your chart plotter …

another new low bridge and roads  developing to add to the many on the ICW

we went into Georgetown, but the anchorage was littered with abandoned boats, neglected boats, and the area was not too inviting … so we headed up the Sampit River to anchor …

we keep meeting this boat, called Cheemauan, they are from Midland, Ontario
