a few words from the Skipper .....

TIDES RULE .....

Tides rule the pace of life on this part of the river.  We have been stuck in the beautiful village
of L'Anse- Saint- Jean for a few days waiting for the east wind to let up.  The wind
against tidal current would have made the trip to Tadoussac very
uncomfortable.  We followed local sailors knowledge and stayed put.

We would have liked the next leg to be a 12 hour voyage to Ile du Bic.  At home this would not
have been a problem, get up early in the morning and do a long day of travelling.
Here it is different.  Because of the tidal currents we can not leave until around 11:00.
That means only travelling 4 hours to Tadoussac, then staying overnight and
leaving early the next morning, catching favourable tides for the 8 hour
voyage to Ile du Bic.
