Matane and Sainte-Anne-des Monts - Aug 18 et 19/12 (PART ONE )

We left Rimouski at 9am, then got fogged in again for another 2 hours, then it lifted , there was a swell coming from the east and waves from the west, so it made for an uncomfortable roller coaster ride, and there was no wind. The pictures where hard to take, and we where 2 miles from shore at this time.
we came across an area of turbines, hundreds of them, also farm land .. and the main road winds along the shore
another village, it seems that they are stretched for miles along the coast, and not too far inland
coming in to Matane commercial harbour
Matane
the ferry came in just before we arrived, and our new sailing friend Martin St. Pierre, is the Capitaine, on the N.M. Camille-Marcoux (the ferry ), and he told Joe that it takes 3/4 hour to unload and load the ferry, so we waited outside for about 1/2 hour for it to leave ... we still where not too sure what the freighter was doing.
this ferry traverse Matane ,- Baie-Comeau - and Godbout
these rocks look like man made, at entrance to commercial harbour
the freighter in side was being worked on, work men on the side grinding away
Joe just got the anchor down and secured, first time we thought we where too close to the freighter, so moved over a bit, but was still worried about the fishing boats coming and going all night ... we didnt want to be in their road ... we telephoned the harbour master and had to leave a message, just to tell him that we are in his area and we where moving a 6 am the next day.
days track, staying in about 100 ft and about 1 - 2 miles from shore
the guys at work, one was always watching the others
a nice sun set
sun set
the workers worked until about midnight, on the freighter lights every where ... we where too tired after our 8 hour day, it did not bother us
fishing boat just out side Matane, heading in to harbour, that we just left
lots of sea weed, after we went thru this batch the motor was straining, so we slowed, stopped and reversed, then headed out again after spitting out lots of weeds
another St. Lawrence village
Cap- Chat lighthouse
found out the name of this yellow headed, black tipped winged bird - Gannet - they are huge
outside Sainte-Anne-des-Monts
another 8 hour motor day - no wind at all, and lots of swells
this place has hundreds of driftwood sculptures every where
there is no diesel fuel tanks in the marina, that you can motor to, so you are able to fuel up with your jerry cans at the dock
