Riviere-au-Ranard to Gaspe Aug 22 et 23/12 (part one)

this is the large anchorage just in side Riviere-au-Renard, about 3 times the size of Wingfield Basin ... good holding too
only one boat was anchored
lots of swells today, but no wind
the colour of the grass, water, fishing boat and cliffs, was spectacular .. the picture does not show this
villages after village, on top of cliffs and in valleys
since our last marina, we have been in Forillon National Park , this lighthouse is Cap des Rosier
the cliffs are the Cap de Gaspe, one side of them
note the smooth water, we where told to watch for the winds around the Cap's ... they can be very strong
and yes.... we put our foresail out and sailed at 7 knots for the next 30 minutes, until we rounded the Cap and then no wind
in the binoculars these looked like caves
at the point, and still wind to sail
one Flowerpot - Rocher Flower Pot
track of going around the Cap de Gaspe
motoring 10 plus miles into Gaspe ... lots of dolphins and seals
the Coast Guard came up quickly behind us
on the boat they had a pod, they lifted it off the boat and  crew went to the commercial dock to help them dock the bigger boat
Gaspe
Gaspe Marina
behind us coming in to Gaspe was the tall ship Peacemaker
our days travels
a very interesting boat
Peacemaker going to Commercial dock, which we found out the next day was a 45 min walk for us each way on the old train tracks
we met this boat in Rimouski ... they are here, waiting on new crew, then are sailing to Nova Scotia this year
this guy just came in from sailing, he designed and built his beautiful boat
to get to the town, we had to cross the bridge .. I don't think no one obeys the speed limit ... it could be a very dangerous walk
Samuel Vezina was selling his cd on the street ... I just had to buy it and it is quite good
a small part in town with cafe's and shops
it was hot, so some refreshments
the Gannets, are every where
shopping mall
grocery store .. just in case you forgot, the beer is at the cashier
there is lots of walkways, hiking and bike trails .. even trails for motorcycles
beers on the dock and fishing too
Gaspe winter overs a lot of boats, they are full for this year and have a waiting list of 30
the skipper is off to do our laundry, so I can work on the blog
