our furthest point north 49*16.0' N 65*33.0' W Mon. Aug.20/12 (part one)hey

hey what is new .. there is always churchs and fishing boats,  as I said earlier everything thing is built along the water, the villages go on for miles
Note hwy 132, at bottom of cliff ....... since we left Rimouski 4 days ago we have been travelling pretty steady.  177 nautical miles have passed under our keel.  Much of this time we where following the Gaspesie coast, watching cars drive along the coastal route of Hwy 132.  It's hard to imagine they are covering the same distance in less than 3 hours .!!!!!!!!!!!!
Le Martre -- a red lighthouse and church Sainte-Marthe-de-Gaspe
villages, with beautiful hills behind ... sorry the pictures do not tell of the beauty here
first day in weeks, that it is calm ... no swells from ocean and the usually no wind
it was cold on the water, I was bundled up well ... but to put in time on watch, I had a chance to finish off a sewing job on our cushions  ... in 8 hours they where all done
in the middle of the forest there was a clearing
churches mean there is another village to examine with binoculars, as we are passing by
just before this seal, we thought we saw a whale, but it turned out to be a very big seal frightened of the boat,  .. we thought it would be nice to see another ... then came along this guy .... all he had out of the water was his snout ....  we thought he would do the same as the rest of the seals and dive, but NO he stayed put .. we will have to ask someone what it means when they do the snout thing out of the water. ... sleeping?
some gravel on the mountain, the road really zig zagged up the hill
lots of fishing nets along the shore, we tried to stay 100 ft off shore, and then sometimes we saw nets ahead of us.  they are fishing flat fish, so we are told
some where around here we hit our most northern point of our travel ... at Point de Gros Morne
light house Riviere la Madeleine
see cross on rock ... more to follow
this is what greated us when we docked in this small fishing village
beautiful homes all painted up
crab nets
Modaki at dock ... more to follow ...
