July 24/12 Lachine - Contrecoeur

- this old boat is from the 1812 war and was on display this past weekend, they where taking down the mast when we came in for shelter  ,, this is the next morning
- in the distance Montreal
- Lavant Railroad Lift Bridge
- Honore Mercier Bridge
- Cote St. Catherine depot for gravel etc.
- Pont Jacques-Cartier  ... we are trying to think and speak French now
- Joe on the phone for instructions, there is another delay at the locks
- sky threatening
- waiting for the freighter to lock up
- freighter coming and coming and the stern, then the turmoil of water behind, we where told to wait for 2 min before we enter lock if a freighter is exiting
- Joe handling over the ticket money ... we missed the really good picture at the lock before, the lock master handed down a long aluminum poled with a clip board attached to hand over our ticket or cash, because we where 10 -12 feet below the lock when we entered

- passing thru Montreal harbour ... it is not the center of the city like Quebec is
- rain coming our way ... a welcoming feeling .... but it did not arrive  ... we where so hot
- the Trans Canada Hwy passes under the St. Lawrence here
- Montreal was full of freighters
- coming in the narrow channel to Parc Nautiue de Contrecoeur, Quebec
- Coast Guard on there way out ... this is a channel not marked, the attendent from the marina told us
how to come in ... keep the church steeple dead ahead, then part way in  .....  we made it
- days travel    36 miles in 10 hours   tired
- more threatening skys
- went to town   Cap for Joe and beer for me
- Good night sun set
