Spent most of today in the U.S. waters Eisenhower Lock #6 and Snell Lock #5 to Cornwall July 19/12

This is the only freighter we saw today ... we grade them on
what bow wake they push ...

at 10 am we motored right in to Eisenhower Lock #6,
a motor boat and sailboat "RedHead" was waiting on us.
We had to pay $60. for this lock and the next.  $30 each in cash.

The lock master asked us to go shoulder to shoulder with the sailboat ...
what .. this lock is 760 ft long ... any way that is how you meet new friends.
so we tired up beside "Redhead "  Hunter 34

mid ship line around bollard only

Modaki tied beside Redhead

8 hydro stacks .. have no idea where they are going ... we are in
north New York state

U.S. goverment run marine unit ... this is just out side  Snell Lock #5
they let about 8 pleasure craft out of lock and then closed the gate,   and still had the red lights on
so we had to motor
around and around in the currant for one hour before they opened the gates.  The lock master
said they had a problem with # 9 bollard and had to have it repaired.  So we where let in and then had to wait for 3/4 hours tied to the inside canal wall for 2 more power boats to lock down from lock #6.

They can hold pleasure craft up to 3 hours, with out being in trouble , so to speak .

These structures are put over the locks in the winter, by a crane so the locks
can be worked on all winter long

There is no zebra mussels here, the freighters keep the walls clean, because they only have one
foot either side of them, when locking thru.

in the Snell lock, we where asked to pull up to a bollard

Seaway International Bridge

Marina 200, Cornwall, Ontario

Jamie Nicol, when we saw this, we thought you should have one !!

20.4 miles today  total of 412.7 on trip ... so far

going for a walk downtown Cornwall

Providence of Quebec tomorrow ....
