Joe's car,.... it sure is nice to have our own transportation. On the day of the launch, the car would not start, but after a dozen tries it went, Joe googled for a Hyundi dealer and as we travelled from Moncton to Shediac, he located a dealer just off the road we were travelling on, we pulled in asked for assistance, they took us in and had us back on the road with a new starter in 1 1/2 hours, and it was under warranty too ... we made it back to Shediac in time for our own launch!!!
it rained hard all day Wednesday, and the winds kept building, it was recorded in the middle of the
night at 45 knots, we are parallel to this wall, and when the night watchman did his rounds, waves were crashing over the walls, he said he got soaked and had to dry his clothes in the dryer. In the morning our boat was covered in salt and sea weed. It looked like some one tossed a salad all over the docks and boats.
Thursday morning we did some more errands, ordered oil filters, got a tides and currents guide, flares to keep us up to date, and more groceries. By the afternoon the sun came out and it went from 8 to 15 degrees. The wind was still high, so we called to reschedule our mast stepping. Getting the stick up now is Friday at 2pm. So time to do some chores, Joe installed our new compass, the old one lost all it's fluid. It was hard to tell what was north or south, or are we going east.
I used my pressure cooker to make us a chicken dinner, for Friday night. Once I got it up to steam temp. it took 20 minutes to cook. We are using our electric hot plate now at the marina. I am not too sure how the P. Cooker will work on stove alcohol, when we are at anchor.
Our sailing friends John and Miora, on Genevieve, recommended us this place,
Au Quai Aboiteau Wharf Restaurant, in Cap-Pele, just 15 minutes from Shediac. It was a must place to go for sea food.
Everyone ordered the Seafood Bucket, 3 lobsters, 3 snow crabs, 10 mussels, 10 clams, and 2 cobs of
corn, for $25.75 ... it is a meal for two people .. it was so good !!!
1/2 way through and we finally get to the crab, and then find more clams and mussels had slipped
to the bottom of the can .. this is a seafood lovers dream.
while we were there some fishermen brought in 6 snow crabs, for the live water tank ... and when talking to them, a young lad said he has his Boston Whaler in Pointe du Chene Yacht Club, and it turned out it is docked right at our bow.
after supper we walked the Aboiteau Beach, it was so clean and you could walk for miles,
New Brunswick has so many beautiful beaches.
this is the marina, it is too shallow for us to enter
back at Shediac, note the light house, this is what salt does to wood. I think they
have already painted the bottom.
