upon approaching Baddeck, we see the old home of Alexander Graham Bell,
Beinn Bhreag, a large estate on the hill above Red Head. (not in picture)
coming around the lighthouse that is on Kidston Island we see about 50 mooring balls, and
most of them had boats attached
you could anchor also
dock space was not readily available
we radioed the Beddeck Marina, because we needed fuel and a pump out
the Yacht Club was right beside the Public Wharf, which was right beside the Marina
everything was very close.
public wharf, $1.25 per foot
there was a tour boat, that went out 3 or 4 times a day, loaded with sight seeing guests
we picked up a mooring ball in front of Bras d'Or Lake Yacht Club, for $20.00/night
we could of anchored for free also ...
we had to fine tune one of the fuel filters, it was leaking a bit ... then spend a few more
hours cleaning up the mess !!!
a Band B, just behind our mooring
another waterside house
2 1/2 hours and 6.5 miles
the yacht club had a youth program and we had lots of fun watching them manoeuvre there
boats ... a pair of lads bumped into our boat and had a heck of a time getting off ... so I went to
their rescue and gave them the heave hoe !!!
there they go !!!!
a cute cottage on the water, with a motor too, rain gutters, picket fence, flower window boxes
sailors Nerine and Mark Jacobs, aboard "Rudder Nonsense", took us to a dock close to the grocery store, this sure made restocking a lot easier. The Jacobs usually keep their boat at 12 Mile Bay, on Georgian Bay, but have been sailing these waters for the past 4 years.
beautiful houses along the waters edge.
