the Parks Canada employees, could not of been better, informative, friendly, took garbage, let us fill our drinking water jugs from their sink, ( they mentioned Walkerton, Ontario), which made our jaws drop !!
I talked about this canal earlier, on depth, width, construction etc. BUT what is so
important is that the two employees have to lock you in to the lock, then they open the other gate and ask you to wait on Channel 10, because they have to drive up and over and around streets to get to the bridge, one employee has to go onto the bridge to do something and the other radios us to say go ahead !!!!
this a a lot easier than the Canso Locks, when you don't tie up and the current is 1.5 knots, pushing you to the closed gate and bridge
15 years to make this in the 1854
quess what, the government wants to close this lock, omg, where is the priorities !!
looking back at the locks
one of our lock officials seeing us pass by ... and hoping that we hurry up so the car traffic, does not get upset ...
bridge open for us !!
we sped up and got the traffic moving again ....
so I am told, this is not officially into the Bras d'or Lakes ... but it still looks good to me, Skipper Joe !!
Anchoring behind Beaver Island and Sampsonville
the skipper, had to tidy up lines by whipping the ends ... then we had to have a dip, so refreshing
but licking the lips and it was very salty ... this is not what we are use to, things get sticky later in the night ... Need a water maker ... Skipper Joe !!!!!
Good night ... some kids passed us by at 12:30am having a good time in a boat, towing a raft, asking, is that a bouy, (light) , and the other said no a sailboat at anchor.
